Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne was reportedly robbed at gunpoint while out with his wife and friends last night.

Il Mattino online and IAmNaples.it both claim the Italy international was subjected to the ordeal in the Vomero district of his hometown at around 22.30 on Saturday.

The armed robbers recognised the player and followed him, pointing the gun in his face before stealing cash and other valuables.

It was meant to be Insigne’s time to relax ahead of Monday night’s big Serie A game away to Fiorentina.
