Lorenzo Insigne may have scored a brace for Napoli last night, but reports suggest a contract renewal is still a way off.

The two parties have been negotiating for around ten months, with the 25-year-old currently tied to the club until 2019.

Now Gazzetta dello Sport report that Insigne is no nearer to reaching an agreement with his hometown team, suggesting that a deal is far from being completed.

The player’s agent is said to have demanded an annual salary of €4m net, with 50% of his image rights included.

This is a sticky subject, as Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis insists that the club will own all of these rights, meaning that they lose out on substantial earning potential.

After having lost out on several potential new signings over the issue, the President is unlikely to budge on his stance, meaning that the club will have to find another way to offer the winger what he is asking for.
