Lorenzo Insigne praises the “immense passion” of Napoli fans which “you won’t find anywhere else”.
The attacking midfielder grew up in Naples, and on Saturday he signed a new long-term contract with the Partenopei.
“Naples is wonderful, only we know what it means to be Neapolitans,” Insigne said in a Q&A with fans.
“I try to take this to the nation, and the world too. We have everything in Naples: the food, Vesuvius, the sea – things which everyone envies us for.

“The fans? You have immense passion, I even followed Napoli in Serie C and you won’t find that anywhere else. I hope it will always be like this, just so we can win a lot of trophies.
“Sacrifices to play for Napoli? Many, when I was small I was already helping my family, getting up early to go to work. Those sacrifices have been repaid though, I’m playing with Napoli and I’m glad I made them.
“It was wonderful to play at San Paolo for the first time, since I was a kid it was always a dream for me to play on this pitch. It’s a unique emotion.”
Insigne was also asked for some of the highlights of his career with Napoli.
“I think my best goal was against Borussia Dortmund, the winner from a free-kick. Then the most significant I think was in the Coppa Italia final.
“The most important games? The Coppa Italia final with Fiorentina where I got a double, my first against Parma and then third I’d say Real Madrid.”
