“I think we put in a great performance this evening and fully deserved to bring home the victory,” Insigne told RAI Sport.

“We have quality and use the passing game to find the right gap. The coach put us in the condition to do well and we are all having a wonderful time with this tactical system.

“If we look at the various matches overall, they could’ve had far more goals and stronger results. I am happy even when I don’t score goals, as long as I help my teammates to win.”

Italy climbed to the top of the Nations League group and their final game is against already-relegated Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“Now we have to enjoy this victory and prepare as best we can for Wednesday.”
