“It’s going to be a big game, we know that we are taking on a great team and that we are not in our best form right now,” Insigne told RaiSport.

“This is one of those matches that can reanimate us. We must remain concentrated, as Inter have a lot of quality and we are ready to respond blow for blow.”

Napoli sacked Carlo Ancelotti last month to bring in Gennaro Gattuso, who has only one win under his belt, a stoppage-time success at Sassuolo.

“It went pretty well with Ancelotti, but when the results aren’t good, the coach inevitably pays the price, even if it isn’t his fault, and in our case it was everyone’s fault.

“Gattuso is passing on his remarkable grit and we are working well. We’ve got to stay concentrated and listen to the boss. He has defended me from Day One, so there is reciprocal respect there.

“At times I get targeted when things aren’t going well, I know that, but I continue working to give these fans the joy they deserve. I realise that I disappoint them every now and then, but only together can we achieve our targets.”
