“We knew that we were facing a very tough, physical side who were in a difficult situation,” Insigne told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did well to not hold back and continue playing our football. I am happy with this victory.”

As the only Neapolitan in the team, Insigne was subjected to extra abuse from the Hellas crowd, as there’s a long-standing bitter rivalry between the clubs.

“It is very satisfying to score here, especially after they hurled so many insults at me throughout the game.

“I dedicate this victory to my city, as I know how much we care about this fixture.”

Insigne ran to hug Coach Maurizio Sarri on the touchline after his goal.

“The Coach gives me confidence and the other time I was angry at being substituted, but I apologised. The important thing is that Napoli win games.”
