Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel is expected to be sidelined for a number of weeks after picking up an injury during the team’s 2-1 home loss to Udinese in Serie A on Monday evening.

The Biancocelesti shot stopper was replaced by Christos Mandas during injury time at the Stadio Olimpico in what was another disappointing evening for Maurizio Sarri’s side.

According to multiple outlets, Provedel has suffered a sprain to his ankle, which, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, is likely to rule him out for a period of around three weeks.

Provedel left the Stadio Olimpico in a protective boot on Monday evening and he is expected to have undergone further tests at the Paideia clinic in Rome on Tuesday morning. Lazio are expected to receive further updates in the coming hours.

The 2-1 loss to Uidnese was Lazio’s 12th loss in Serie A this season. They now sit 11 points outside the top four with just 10 matches left to play before the end of the 2023-24 season.

In an attempt to regenerate the squad, President Claudio Lotitio and sporting director Angelo Fabiani have called for a mid-season training camp at Formello.
