Ezequiel Schelotto is philosophical upon not making Cesare Prandelli’s Euro 2012 squad and revealed that he has had plenty of transfer offers since.

The Argentine-born winger was included in Italy’s provisional 32-man squad for the summer’s tournament in Poland and Ukraine, but failed to make it past the first cut earlier this week.

Despite this, the 23-year-old is rational, particularly in light of the earthquake that hit the Emilia region of the country the following day, forcing the cancellation of the Azzurri’s friendly with Luxembourg.

“After Prandelli picked his squad I had to return home,” explained Schelotto to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“In Bergamo I saw on television what happened in Emilia with the earthquake and was dismayed because I have relatives who live in those areas, so I had to make sure they were all fine.

“It’s a pity that the match with Luxembourg won’t be played, but just think about the people and the tragedy of the earthquake.

“Everyone with Italy has been fantastic with me, the Coach complimented me and told me I must continue because I did well with the Atalanta shirt.

“It was always a dream to make the final list for Euro 2012, I respect the choices. I am happy to have been part of the group, I’ll be rooting for Italy. I think the team can go as far as possible.”

The former Cesena and Catania man was asked of rumours linking him with a switch this summer.

“Many teams have come forward, joining the national team has opened many doors. I have a very good technical director in Pierpaolo Marino, who this year has helped me a lot, Atalanta is also a club I admire and who respect me. I still have three years on my contract, and I prefer to leave things regarding the market at this time as my agent is at this moment working a great deal.

“Napoli? It would be nice to one day play for a team as important as them. Today there are many friends there who I speak to. I don’t mean anything by this, but I guarantee that to one day play for Napoli would be really nice.”
