Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has thrown his weight behind former Coach Gennaro Gattuso.
The ex-Rosanero tactician had his home raided this week with the former midfielder being accused of an alleged involvement in the Calcioscommesse betting scandal.
But Gattuso’s one-time employer has insisted that it is ‘impossible’ for him to be involved.
“I would put my hand in the fire for him,” Zamparini told Radio 24. “I know him – I would give him my wallet because I know he is a trustworthy person.
“It seems impossible to me that Gennaro could be involved.
“I respect him as a man and I admire him.
“Italy is a second-class country. You can’t do justice in Press conferences.”
