The Government released its plan for Phase Two of the coronavirus response, which lets some businesses reopen from May 4 with social distancing, including the ability to go jogging in the park, but athletes in team sports can’t enter training facilities.

“I don’t want to get back out there because Lazio are second in the table, but because I miss doing what I love and my profession,” Immobile told Lazio Style Radio.

“I am not trying to stir up trouble or take anyone on, I just ask for some clarity as a citizen of Italy. I am in a certain profession and I am waiting for news on when I can get back to work. We just want to get back to doing our jobs.

“We are ready to play in the heat of summer, because we can be a distraction for those people out there who won’t even get the chance to go on vacation.

“All the other players from different clubs that I talk to feel the same way and we want to get out there. How is it possible that I can go running in the parks of Rome, but not in Formello where I can guarantee social distancing in safety?”

After pushing seven weeks of lockdown, how is Immobile coping?

“We cook, we do exercise together, we watch TV shows. We binged all of Casa de Papel (Money Heist) in one day, now we’re on to The Witcher and I’m trying to get my wife to watch Romanzo Criminale.”
