Ciro Immobile was furious at the VAR system coming back to haunt Lazio once more despite scoring a spectacular backheeled volley.

The Biancocelesti drew 2-2 at Cagliari in today’s Serie A clash, with the prolific forward netting an incredible late lob to earn his side a point in Sardinia.

However, Simone Inzaghi’s team were once more left to rue the officials’ use of VAR. The hosts were awarded a penalty after referee Marco Guida consulted with technology.

Controversially, the whistle-blower had earlier refused to take a look at the replay after Immobile went down after being sandwiched in between two Cagliari defenders.

“This draw is not what we needed. We are half satisfied with the result, we wanted the win today and we should have got it,” Immobile commented post-match.

“We didn’t play well and we know that. We need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

“The thing that makes me most angry is that it seems that VAR doesn’t exist for Lazio.

“When it comes to us, they don’t even ask for it to be used. I think that today’s was one of the clearest penalties I have ever seen.”
