Lazio striker and Serie A Capocannoniere had some choice words for Dr Christian Jessen after he accused Italy of ordering a Coronavirus lockdown “as an excuse to have a long siesta.”

The comments were made by the celebrity doctor, who hosts UK show Embarrassing Bodies, during an interview with FUBAR Radio’s Access All Areas.

“This might be a little bit racist to say this, but do you think it’s a bit of an excuse? The Italians, any old excuse to, you know, shut down everything and stop work for a bit and have a long siesta.”

The death toll in Italy from the Coronavirus over the last three weeks has now hit 1,266 with a further 14,955 suffering from the illness right now.

Lazio and Italy forward Immobile read the comments from Dr Jessen and had something to add on Instagram.

“Go tell that to the relatives of people who have died or those who are fighting in hospital, you ****head! I tell you this from the heart… **** off.”
