Lazio talisman Ciro Immobile was forced off the pitch in the early stages of their Serie A clash with Sassuolo.

The 32-year-old Italian forward has continued to be the leading man in Maurizio Sarri’s Biancocelesti squad this season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 13 league appearances.

He was forced to the sidelines for a few weeks in the first half of the campaign, missing four Serie A games with a hamstring injury. His absence highlighted the club’s dire need for a backup striker, a role left vacant following Vedat Muriqi’s departure in the summer.

Immobile was forced off the pitch in the 15th minute of Lazio’s away clash with Sassuolo, clutching the back of his thigh, which was later strapped up on the bench. He will undergo a round of medical tests to determine the issue, which some fear could be another hamstring problem.

With two weeks left in the transfer window, Lazio still have time to pick up a new backup striker, which they may be forced to do should Immobile’s issue prove serious.
