The two nations will meet in a friendly at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid next Wednesday.

Prandelli won’t name his squad until Sunday evening, but he is expected to bring in some new faces ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

Torino striker Immobile seems certain to receive a call-up, as he has never played for Italy at senior level, but scored 13 Serie A goals this season.

He was a mainstay of the Under-21 side, scoring eight goals in 16 games, and turned 24 last week.

Another newcomer could be Parma defender Paletta, who has stated several times he is eager to play his international football for Italy.

Born and raised in Argentina, the 28-year-old played for his country at Under-20 level.

Paletta has been at Parma since July 2010 and has Italian ancestors, so is eligible to wear the Azzurri jersey.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Paletta will get his maiden call-up this week.
