Ciro Immobile and Frosinone were mentioned in intercepted telephone calls by figures arrested in the Spain match-fixing scandal, it’s reported.
According to newspapers Marca, As, Mundo Deportivo and more, the leaked paperwork from the Operation Oikos investigation included strong links to Italy.
Specifically, Mattia Mariotti – who is accused of running an illegal gambling ring – told Carlos Aranda that Lazio striker Immobile placed regular bets.

The most damaging part of the conversation regards Frosinone, with Mariotti suggesting he and a ‘delegate’ would meet three or four players to ask if they were interested in fixing a match.
Frosinone were relegated straight back to Serie B after just one season in the top flight.
Under the Italian rules, simply being approached to fix a match and not immediately alerting the authorities can earn very long bans of two or three years, even if the offer is rejected.
