The Slovenian trequartista is set to leave Palermo after their relegation into Serie B and has numerous options on the table.

“The offer from Bayer Leverkusen has been there for some time, but the player has clearly said he wants to stay in Italy,” agent Amir Ruznic told TMW.

“His desire is to remain in this country, hopefully even after he retires, as he is so happy here.”

Among the Serie A contenders for the €12m-rated player are Fiorentina, Milan and Roma.

“I cannot say one way or the other. It’s a difficult moment and there is too much clamour around the player right now. I can only say there are several different clubs looking at Ilicic, which is to be expected considering his quality.”

Arsenal had shown strong interest in the Slovenia international.
