The Nerazzurri captain has been in dispute with the club’s Ultras, after an inflammatory passage in his autobiography where he threatened to have “hooligans from Argentina” come over and “kill them where they stand”.

“It was a totally unnecessary comment,” Icardi sighed, speaking on Radio Guemes.

“It was an inappropriate comment that put him in conflict with the fans. It’s not useful for anyone.

“It was a very strong comment which is of benefit to no-one. This kind of behaviour isn’t helpful.”
