Sky Sport Italia claimed earlier this evening that Inter had outright turned down a proposal worth €60m plus €2m bonuses from Napoli.

They had also presented plans to Icardi for vastly improved wages in the region of €5m per season for a new four-year contract.

However, Calciomercato.it insist the situation is not so clear-cut, as Inter’s plan is to sign the new contract in October.

As that is after the transfer window has already shut, Icardi and his entourage see it as another snub for their captain.

While Napoli do not seem ready to raise their offer for the Argentine marksman, Chelsea and Arsenal are still keeping a close eye on him.

Premier League clubs could practically double his wages and are prepared to bid considerably more than Napoli.
