Mauro Icardi is reportedly still refusing to train with Inter due to alleged pain in his knee.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Icardi informed Inter’s medical staff and Coach Luciano Spalletti of his unwillingness to train on Monday.

The striker has not played since being stripped of the captaincy on February 13, citing inflammation in his knee, although the club have since dismissed that to be the case.

Instead he has been doing physiotherapy work by himself, away from the rest of the squad.

The broadcaster explains the Nerazzurri chose not to comment on the situation but that there could be a meeting between the Argentine and Spalletti on Tuesday.

However, no talks over a new contract would be planned and Sky does not expect that to change ‘any time soon’.

The 26-year-old now looks certain to miss Inter’s Europa League last-16 first leg against Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
