Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dejan Stankovic are in the running for FIFA’s Puskas Award that recognises the best Goal of the Year.

The award was set up in late 2009 to recognise the best goals scored in competitive football each year. Members of the public can view the shortlist of the 10 best strikes seen in the year across the men’s and women’s game on FIFA’s official website and then vote for their favourite.

The first round of voting to determine the top three candidates closes on December 5, whilst the final winner is then determined in a second vote that will conclude on January 9 at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala.

Ibrahimovic is nominated for his left-footed 30-yard half-volley against Lecce in Serie A, whilst Stankovic finds himself on the list for his volley from the halfway line against Schalke in the Champions League.

Others nominated in the final 10 include Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Neymar. Past winners of the award named after Hungarian footballer Ferenc Puskas are Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 and Hamit Altintop in 2010.
