Beppe Iachini believes Sassuolo ‘have improved’ since he took over as Coach after today’s 1-1 draw with SPAL.

Following the stalemate against their relegation rivals, the Neroverdi have now failed to win in their last nine Serie A matches.

However, the Stadio Mapei boss believes his side showed a reaction to recent poor results today and insists performances have been better than results suggest.

“We have played some great matches but we haven’t brought the points home,” Iachini told reporters.

“Compared to my first matches here we have improved, but we aren’t collecting points.

“Today, in the decisive moments we didn’t give much away.”

In a match in which Sassuolo were awarded two penalties, missing one, Iachini was asked why Matteo Politano stepped up to take the second spot-kick when Khouma Babacar had successfully scored the first.

“In that situation Babacar didn’t feel it. We will see who the next penalty taker is. That’s the way it went, the goalkeeper did well too.

“We need to look ahead and think about the next matches. We need to be more solid.”
