Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini has claimed Federico Chiesa will “soon” be back to his best but pointed out he doesn’t have a “magic wand”.

The new coach said he was pleased with the Italy international and revealed Chiesa had shown him “how much he cares” during his first weeks as the Viola coach.

“I immediately spoke to Federico and told him what I want from him,” Iachini told at a press conference. “He gave me his availability, showing me how much he cares. I’m satisfied with his first days working with me.

“We will soon see the Chiesa we know.”

Iachini is preparing for his first game in charge after replacing Vincenzo Montella during the winter break, as Fiorentina are facing Bologna at the Renato Dall’Ara on Monday.

“We are preparing, we know the strength of the opponent and of Sinisa [Mihajlovic],” he added. “We want to arrive there as an organised squad. We need to enter the pitch and play our game. We can’t lose the balance of a squad.

“I don’t like to talk about the coaches who I succeed, but we are putting the intensity to the pitch. Building on the first tactical changes that I want. We have room for improvement, but we have to work hard, also because I have very specific demands of the team, but I can’t change everything in two weeks.

“Over time, however, we will see some benefits. We’ve started working. I don’t have a magic wand and I’m not presumptuous, the boys are working well, and we want to do the talking on the pitch.”
