Former Sassuolo Coach Beppe Iachini trusts Italy can “build a new era” on talents like Federico Chiesa and Nicolò Barella.

The Azzurri secured their Nations League A status with a last-gasp victory in Poland on Sunday night thanks to Fiorentina full-back Cristiano Biraghi.

“Roberto Mancini’s project with the Nazionale is starting to take shape and the team plays good football,” Iachini told RMC Sport Radio.

“Roberto Mancini’s project with the Nazionale is starting to take shape and the team plays good football,” Iachini told RMC Sport Radio.

“The CT wants a side with quality, that gives the opposition no real reference points to mark and the system is giving a good response."

Among the star names in Poland were 20-year-old Fiorentina winger Chiesa and 21-year-old Cagliari midfielder Barella.

“We’ve known about Chiesa for a while and his quality is evident. Barella is another impressive young player for the future of the Nazionale, so Mancini deserves credit for believing in them straight away and can build a new era around them.

“We’ve got to make the most of young talents when we find them.”
