“I tried to reassure him, but this takes nothing away from Florence and the people of this city,” said the coach on the official Viola website.
“It’s a splendid and very civil city, with great people. Unfortunately, it just proved these things really do happen everywhere. He was very upset, especially straight away, as it’s hurtful to see your personal things ransacked, but Florence and the people of Florence have nothing to do with it.
“Franck understood that, it will pass. We look forward, knowing we are all united.”
Fiorentina at least ended their negative streak with a 2-1 win away to Parma and now take on Cagliari.
“It’s an important victory for the lads and the fans, because since the lockdown was lifted, we haven’t got the results we deserved. We had so many shots on goal, hit the woodwork four times, so there was bad luck as well as not being clinical enough in our finishing, but the overall performances were good.
“Cagliari are a tough team to face, as Walter Zenga has given them organisation and solidity, along with the quality that was already there. We must be very focused and above all take our chances, which we didn’t do in other games.”
German Pezzella is suspended, but Iachini should bring back the familiar faces after rotating his squad at the Tardini.
“There are a few knocks, so we’ll evaluate every individual. It’s important in this anomalous fixture list to have strong fitness levels, sharpness and intensity. A few changes will certainly be made.”
