Beppe Iachini insists Empoli are “putting in good performances, but we need to start getting the points to show for them” against Lazio.

It kicks off on Thursday at 19.30 GMT.

“I asked for some stats and saw we are the eighth team in Serie A with regards to attacking situations and created opportunities,” noted the Coach in his Press conference.

“We have a precise identity, whether at home or away, but errors have often given a different perception of our overall performance. When you don’t bring home the points, it’s natural that you are going to be judged a different way.

“We’re trying not to create further pressure on the lads, as it’s the first Serie A experience for many of them. It’s unusual for me too, as usually my teams don’t concede many goals. We cannot just abandon the philosophy we have embraced.

“Lazio are one of the best teams in Serie A this season, I’d say second only to Juventus in terms of technical ability. They have strength in depth and won’t have an issue rotating the squad.

“What we must do is ensure Lazio don’t get too close to our penalty area. We must be perfect, but focusing on our own football too. If you are passive in Serie A nowadays, you get nowhere. We continue to believe in what we’re doing.

“Errors can happen, we just have to realise where we’ve gone wrong and try not to repeat the same mistakes, because in the top flight you will pay for every single slip-up. The details are essential.

“We are putting in good performances, but we need to start getting the points to show for them.”

The Tuscans make the trip without Antonino La Gumina, Bartlomiej Dragowski, Leonardo Capezzi and Lorenzo Polvani.

Empoli squad for Lazio: Perucchini, Provedel, Saro; Antonelli, Dell’Orco, Di Lorenzo, Diks, Maietta, Nikolaou, Pajac, Pasqual, Rasmussen, Silvestre, Veseli; Acquah, Bennacer, Brighi, Krunic, Traore, Ucan; Caputo, Farias, Mchedlidze, Oberlin
