Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini was happy to ‘finally’ stop the winless streak with a 2-1 triumph against Parma and claimed the Viola deserved more from their first games after the break.

Erick Pulgar scored two penalties at the Stadio Tardini and Iachini was quick to ‘dedicate’ the three points to President Rocco Comisso.

“I was on the phone a little while ago with the President,” Iachini told Sky Sport Italia. “He congratulated the team and we dedicated this win to him.

“This was very important because we have been chasing this win for a long time. We haven’t been able to collect what we have sown so far.

“We have done a lot and built a lot, but we have not been good at controlling the games.”

Fiorentina had only picked up one point after the resumption and Iachini revealed he had to make changes in training.

“Finally, the win came, the team played a great match and had a great desire to win,” he added. “After the first few days we had to change something in terms of training.

“We had to avoid fatigue and risk less injuries by having a slightly fresher team. [Federico] Chiesa and [Gaetano] Castrovilli have given us a lot, so I decided to rest them today.

“Everyone in the group is needed and the lads are all available. We have to be more clinical and finish off the games earlier.”

The rumours regarding Iachini’s future has caused uncertainties at the Artemio Franchi.

“During the lockdown, the President made a very normal statement and it all started from there,” he confessed. “When we restarted, the rumours came.

“It certainly didn’t do the team any good. We tried to remain focused and deserved more from these first games.”

Franck Ribery was brought off after having suffered a knock on the right ankle he operated earlier this season.

“He took a bad hit, let’s see how it is when training resumes tomorrow. The greatest players recover in an excellent way.”
