Milan have now crashed out of the Champions League in the group stage, leading to fears that their January transfer market plans may have changed.

The Rossoneri secured a 2-1 win over Newcastle United in their last group outing of the campaign, but it wasn’t enough for them to book a spot in the Round of 16 after Paris Saint-Germain held Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw.

The victory did confirm a third-place finish in Group F, a result that sees Milan drop down to the Europa League, where they’ll play a knockout play-off against a team that finished second in their group.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan have decided not to drastically alter their plans for the January transfer market despite dropping out of the Champions League, still planning to add two centre backs and a new striker to Stefano Pioli’s squad.

The club have earnt around €46.4m from European competition this season and are expecting a strong campaign in the Europa League.

Milan will bring back Mattia Gabbia from Villarreal and will also look to sign a new centre back, with options including Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, PAOK’s Konstantinos Koulierakis and Montpellier’s Maxime Esteve.

Regarding a new striker, the Rossoneri aren’t willing to force through a signing and would rather wait until the summer, but would be open to transfer market opportunities like VfB Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, who has a €17m release clause.
