Samir Handanovic insists that he wants to stay at Inter, but admits that their’s has been a frustrating season.

The Nerazzurri have endured an inconsistent campaign, and currently sit in fifth place – two points behind Fiorentina in fourth.

And despite rumours that the squad is set for a revamp in the summer, the Slovenian goalkeeper has claimed he wants to remain at San Siro.

“I have a contract with Inter, and for me, I’ll stay an Inter player,” he told Tuttosport.

“I don’t look too far ahead though. As long as no one comes in for me, then my thoughts are that I’ll stay here.

“There are a lot of strong teams in Europe, but I hope that Inter can be back fighting amongst them soon.

“That’s my hope, and that’s what everyone’s goal is here. I think in the summer this project will truly come of age.

“Ups and downs? We’ve been like that all season, and there is definitely a reason. I think I know why, but it’s not for me to comment.

“I think after over 30 games the League standings don’t lie. Sure, we have plenty of regrets as a team.

“It’s no coincidence that we win two games, then draw the next two, then maybe lost two. All we wanted was to fight for the Champions League – instead, we’re fighting for the Europa League.”

The shot-stopper then commented on Coach Walter Mazzarri, and whether he’ll still be in a job come the end of the campaign.

“It’s not for me to comment on the Coach’s future. I only care about the team and the mistakes I make as an individual.

“Everyone is liable for their own errors. But in any case, we are professionals and we listen to what the Coach says.”
