Napoli stalwart Marek Hamsik 'is hoping to beat' Diego Maradona's club scoring record during the current campaign.
The Captain currently has a tally of 103 goals, closing up to El Pibe de Oro's record of 115.
The Slovakian has already revealed his loyalty to the Partenopei, as he aims to become the club's all-time leading goalscorer.
"I hope to achieve it this year," Hamsik told Corriere dello Sport. "The thought spurs me on.

"I hope to achieve it this year," Hamsik told Corriere dello Sport. "The thought spurs me on.
"I'll never be like him, nor do I believe that it is possible to be him absolutely, but at least I will have the satisfaction of beating him and at that point I will ask to meet him.
"I had the opportunity to talk with Maradona on the phone, last year when he telephoned [Gonzalo] Higuain and he handed the phone to me.
"It was great. As always, we said many nice words to each other. But to shake his hand and to talk to him in person really will be emotional."
