Napoli’s Marek Hamsik admits he had a disappointing season but is committed to remaining and improving at San Paolo.

Despite the Slovak’s underwhelming campaign, which was also curtailed by injury, the Partenopei had a successful season – something which the player believes is more important than his own personal performances.

“Yes I admit it, I was expecting more,” Hamsik said of his last year to Slovak outlet Pluska.

“But the result of the team is more important. We came third in the League and we won the Coppa Italia.

“Unfortunately my season was shaped by an injury, which ended my good run of form.

“In the final I was revived. Now I am focused on next season, we want to do even better.

“Leaving Napoli? That has never entered my head.”
