Not only did the Slovakian play and beat Fiorentina 3-1, but he also had to act as diplomat before the delayed kick-off to calm ultras leaders.
Rumours spread that a Neapolitan shot in Rome had died, but police assured he was still alive and also the shooting had nothing to do with the game.
“It was a very difficult night. Every Final is complicated, but at the end the emotion of the victory put everything behind us,” Hamsik told Rai Sport.
“We are professionals and know these things can happen. We had to concentrate on the field and that’s all that matters.
“In previous years I played in a deeper role, but I still need to learn and improve in this position.”
Hamsik wore the captain’s armband and therefore lifted the Coppa Italia trophy to the sky.
“It’s a huge responsibility, as this city lives for football. I take that responsibility. This season we changed Coach and system, so it was important to lift this trophy and pay off our hard work.
“I dedicate the Coppa to all our fans, my wife and children.”
Hamsik was asked how long he will keep the blue dye in his hair, which was sprayed on after the final whistle.
“It should wash out – I hope it will, anyway!”
