According to Sky Sport Italia, Achraf Hakimi could play for Inter against Genoa this evening after again testing negative for COVID-19, suggesting the UEFA swab was a ‘false positive.’

The game kicks off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT) at Marassi and it’s reported Hakimi is now reunited with his teammates, travelling towards Genoa.

Hakimi had been ruled out of the Champions League match with Borussia Monchengladbach just hours before kick-off on Wednesday.

However, subsequent tests from the Inter lab have shown Hakimi to be negative for COVID-19, questioning the accuracy of the official UEFA test.

With two swabs now coming back negative, as well as a blood test, it points to the UEFA result as a ‘false positive.’

Inter consider this hugely damaging, as it means they had to make last-minute changes to their starting XI and lose a key player without good reason.

They are now racing against time to get the paperwork filed so that Hakimi can play today against Genoa in Serie A.
