Gyasi’s girlfriend Carolina is the daughter of Sassuolo sporting director Giovanni Rossi and the 27-year-old scored his second Serie A goal and the winner in a 2-1 win over the Neroverdi last weekend.

“The lunch in Lerici on Sunday, was offered by Carolina’s father. I assure you: he didn’t take it,” Gyasi told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “We laughed and joked.

“He also gave me an autographed shirt of my idol Cristiano Ronaldo. Now it’s framed.

“I have always been a fan of his, in fact, I was a fan of Real Madrid. When I play against him, I will ask for another one.

“Carolina is special, humble and determined. I consider myself lucky to have found her, she gives me serenity and happiness. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Gyasi continued to talk about Spezia’s season in the top tier, as the newly promoted side sit 16th in the table and are currently six points above the relegation zone.

“We are working for the second miracle after last year’s promotion, we spit blood, as [former basketball coach] Dan Peterson said,” he added.

“We are an organised group, I’m very close with Giulio Maggiore. I have renewed the contract until 2023.

“If my father-in-law want to bring me to Sassuolo? We never talk about that.”
