Francesco Guidolin won’t be the new Italy CT, as he’s signed a renewal with Swansea City.

The former Udinese boss had a contract with the Swans until the end of the season, having taken over from Garry Monk earlier this term.

It had been suggested that he could be a candidate for the Azzurri job, as Antonio Conte is leaving after Euro 2016, but he’ll be staying in Wales.

“Swansea City is pleased to announce that head coach Francesco Guidolin has agreed a new two-year contract with the club,” the Premier League side announced on their official website.

“The agreement was ratified at a Board meeting this afternoon.

“Guidolin arrived at the club in January with a short-term contract that ran until the end of the season. With the club entrenched in the relegation zone at the time, his sole target was to secure Premier League safety.

“Despite suffering from a serious chest infection that left him hospitalised for a period, the 60-year-old turned the club’s fortunes around to such an extent that the Swans will go into Sunday’s final home game of the season currently in 11th place with 46 points.”
