Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin says it was instantly obvious that Diego Milito’s injury was something serious.

The Argentine striker is set for a long spell on the sidelines after he damaged knee ligaments just six minutes into the 2-0 win over Cluj on Thursday.

“I saw Milito make an unnatural movement with his leg,” the Colombian international commented.

“I saw his face, so I could tell it was serious straight away. He landed awkwardly and twisted it horribly.”

The striker, who will require surgery, will be out of action for at least six months – but there are suggestions that the almost 34-year-old may never play again.

Inter are short of options in attack, a situation which may need the club’s midfielders to start rippling the net more regularly.

“Winning games is what matters, not who scores,” added the former Porto man.
