Fabio Grosso is believed to be seeking a significant compensation fee after his dismissal from his position as head coach of Olympique Lyonnais at the end of November.

The 2006 World Cup winner was appointed as Lyon boss in September, replacing Laurent Blanc, who had left the team languishing in the Ligue 1 relegation zone.

Grosso was, however, unable to turn the ship around and was relieved from his duties on November 30 as Lyon found themselves rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table.

The most notable event of his spell in charge of the club he had represented as a player between 2007 and 2009 came prior to kick-off against Marseille, when Grosso and the team bus came under attack en route to the stadium, leaving the coach with serious facial injuries.

Grosso had been handed a contract until the end of the 2023-24 season, with the option of an additional year, and it has been reported by Il Corriere dello Sport that the 46-year-old is unwilling to walk away from that contract.

Instead, he is reportedly seeking compensation to the tune of €1.5-€2m due to alleged reputational damage.
