FIGC chief Gabriele Gravina has announced that VAR will be used in the Serie B playoffs and the creation of a new ‘blacklist’ to weed out bad owners.

VAR has been used in Serie A since the start of last season, and the technology will now be employed to determine who wins promotion to the top flight, in the semi-finals and Final.

Gravina added at Tuesday’s federal council that it could also be used in the preliminary round, as well as the playouts for relegation to Serie C.

Gravina added at Tuesday’s federal council that it could also be used in the preliminary round, as well as the playouts for relegation to Serie C.

Furthermore, a new ‘blacklist’ was voted in unanimously, whereby individuals cannot buy a club if they were a shareholder, director or executive affiliated to a club excluded from an Italian League or whose FIGC membership had been revoked by the FIGC in the last five years.

“It’s a reminder of the sense of responsibility for all businessmen who want to enter the world of football,” explained the FIGC President.
