Serie A has resumed under strict measures and continuous testing of everyone involved, but Gravina hopes to avoid the same ‘demanding’ protocol for 2020-21.
“The teams must start the preparation very soon and we are late in knowing the new procedures to follow,” Gravina told Rai Gr Parlamento. “We don’t know the state of emergency or for how long it will be extended.

The FIGC chief explained that Serie A clubs will struggle to keep up with the protocol and warned that the players will suffer if it continues into next season.
“It’s inapplicable from now on. It’s demanding for the clubs and for athletes themselves,” he added. “This protocol had to consider the evolution of the epidemic in our country and we must continue to take it into account
“But we must be realistic too. We applied it in an emergency for a very short period of time, but to continue to apply it until the end of the next sporting season, with swab tests every four days, is impossible.
“It would be physical violence towards the players. Other solutions must be found. Once the team have been negative, you must loosen the ties.
“In this regard, we are waiting for news from the Technical and Scientific Committee to understand what the new protocol will be. We are also committed to resuming amateur football and in this regard, I say that we still don’t know how and when to start all competitions.”
