A deal between Lazio and Genoa for the transfer of defender Andreas Granqvist has been agreed, with only the player’s contract to be finalised.

The two clubs have been in discussions over the Swedish centre-back this week, as well as Aquile reserve ‘keeper Juan Pablo Carrizo, and are understood to have now reached an agreement for Granqvist’s move south.

The 27-year-old will be loaned to the Biancocelesti next term, with an option inserted for the capital club to make the deal permanent next summer for a fee of €4.5m.

Granqvist, who only joined the Grifone last year and was considered a transfer target of Zenit St Petersburg too, has yet to agree personal terms, but his agent Martin Dahlin is expected in Rome today to formalise an agreement.
