The early Roberto Pereyra goal was cancelled out by Luis Muriel in this rescheduled Week 10 fixture, which was called off in December due to a waterlogged pitch.

“It was a tough game, under pressure, which is inevitably the case when playing against Atalanta,” Gotti told Sky Sport Italia.

“I am satisfied with the attitude shown, the ability to suffer and try to hurt them when we had the chance. I do feel the incident between Pierluigi Gollini and Kevin Lasagna was part of a decisive minute for the match, because after that, Atalanta went up the other end and scored. I didn’t want to watch the replay, as it would only make me upset.

“Going into the break on 1-1, that also had an effect on the game psychologically. I do think the team showed more confidence than in recent weeks.

“We’ve got another tough game coming up against Inter, so we’ll have just one day of training to prepare. It’s certainly not helping.”

Gotti was asked if he at any point felt his job was under threat.

“In the conversations I had with the club, no. What I don’t appreciate is that when an overall good performance has the result ruined by an incident, then the media treats it as a bad performance.”
