Gonzalo Rodriguez wants Fiorentina to “enjoy the moment” as Serie A leaders, but won’t be satisfied with third place.

The Viola had not been on their own in top spot since 1999 and visit Napoli on Sunday afternoon, but can they win the Scudetto?

“There’s such a long way to go and we should enjoy the moment, as it doesn’t happen every day to be up there,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia.

“There’s such a long way to go and we should enjoy the moment, as it doesn’t happen every day to be up there,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have written a small part of history, seeing as Fiorentina hadn’t been Serie A leaders for 16 years.”

This week Viola director Daniele Pradè said ultimately he’d be more than happy with a top three finish.

“He might say that, but I am focused only on winning the next game,” replied Rodriguez.

“Is it me against Gonzalo Higuain on Sunday? I just see it as Fiorentina against Napoli, as you play a match with an entire team, not just one on one.

“Higuain is excellent and moves all the way along the front line, so it won’t just be up to me to mark him.”
