Gomez reportedly refused Gasperini’s orders during the Champions League match between La Dea and FC Midtjylland back in November and the relationship between them seems now deteriorated.

Even if the club’s CEO Luca Percassi insisted none of them will leave in January, Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed the Argentinean star could be on his way out of the Gewiss Stadium in the January transfer window.

"Relations between Gasperini and Gomez are very strained,” Di Marzio said.

“There was a truce for the Champions League but today’s exclusion is not only due to turnover, it is also the sign of a crisis that can lead to the sale of Gomez in January,” he added.

"We still don’t know which club [he could join], we’ll have to figure out if he wants to lower the target of his next club or if he wants to go abroad.”
