The German international was replaced midway through the second half of Fiorentina’s 1-0 win at Napoli on Sunday evening having suffered a suspected sprain to the joint.
Whilst Vincenzo Montella reported after the match that medical staff were ‘optimistic’, Corriere Fiorentino today indicate that the striker’s injury may be more serious than first thought.
Ahead of the results of tests set to be carried out on Monday, speculation is that Gomez may be facing as much as a month out on the sidelines.
Gomez has missed five months of the season already after suffering knee ligament damage in September.
