Tommaso Giulini has outlined his ‘ambitious project’ to take over at Cagliari, as talks with Massimo Cellino are reportedly set for next week.

Mining mogul Giulini confirmed at the weekend that he has been in negotiations with Cellino to take over the Sardinian outfit, just as the current President has also commented on his intentions to sell the club, having recently completed a takeover at English Championship side Leeds United.

Whilst discussions this week between the pair are seen as having proved fruitless, Isola24Sport report now that a new meeting over the proposed €82m purchase of the club and its connected training facilities will be held in Miami next Monday and may be key to the transaction’s completion.

“My project is as detailed as it is ambitious and provides for a sustainable growth both in sporting results and with regards to the stadium,” Giulini has explained this week to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“And then we have the aim to integrate with the area commercially through synergies with local businesses.

“To develop the youngsters we need a system with the football academy that is associated with the area. And finally, we want to have Cagliari better known abroad.

“The dream is to develop a model of Cagliari to tie the club into the image of Sardinia across the world.

“Whereabouts are we? Time is running out – there is a mountain of work to do before the end of June. A delay would jeopardise the effective sustainability of the project in the short term and therefore also in the long term.

“I really admire President Cellino, he has worked well in recent years. Our offer is the best possible, and not to be confused with initiatives linked to speculative funding.

“I have asked Cellino for a prompt reply. To conclude, I am sure that Massimo Cellino will do what is best for Cagliari and not just for his own interests.

“The team belongs to the fans, we all know this very well.”
