Sebastian Giovinco may have flourished at Parma, but the Juventus forward has underlined how vital a loan spell at Empoli was for his development.

The 26-year-old, who returned to Juve in the summer after two years at the Stadio Tardini, spent the 2007-08 campaign on loan in Tuscany.

“They were both very important experiences for me, especially the stint at Empoli,” the Italian international noted.

“It was the first time I left home and that I was away from my family,” explained the attacker who netted six goals in 35 games for the minnows.

“It enabled me to develop on a human level, but also as a footballer and provided me with my first taste of life in Serie A.

“It was an experience I’d recommend to every youngster.”

Giovinco has scored seven goals in 29 League appearances for the Old Lady this season. He has also grabbed two in seven Champions League ties.
