Alberto Gilardino could be set for a reunion with Filippo Inzaghi at Venezia, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The newspaper claims a move to Serie B side Cremonese has fallen through due to Gilardino’s “excessive economic demands”.
However, it may have “opened the door” for the 35-year-old to join Venezia, who are coached by Inzaghi.
The northeners will play in Italy’s second tier next season after recently winning promotion from Lega Pro, alongside Cremonese.
