Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent says the Napoli winger “wants to stay in Italy” but “if China came calling maybe he would go”.

The Italian international scored against Bayern Munich in a friendly yesterday, but it’s still expected that he’ll leave the Partenopei before August 31.

“It [the goal] doesn’t change anything, in the sense we knew he was very good before and he is now too,” Furio Valcareggi explained to Tuttomercatoweb.

“In the course of the season, [Jose] Callejon was out once, Giaccherini replaced him and he scored.

“Obviously a lot of clubs want Emanuele, he’s essential and functional to any system, even the most madcap ones which a Coach can think of. There’s no system which excludes Giaccherini.

“I’ll continue to work and see what the future holds for us, my partner Giulio Marinelli are flexible, if the players are good then so are we.

“If China were to come calling then maybe he would go, otherwise he’ll stay in Italy. We want to stay here, in Italy.”
