Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent claims the midfielder is “unsellable” for Napoli as “there was no-one better on the market” for the Partenopei.

Giaccherini had been linked with a deadline-day move to Fiorentina, but while Furio Valcareggi admitted he tried to take his client there, he was equally happy that the 32-year-old still had a role to play at the San Paolo.

“Being considered unsellable for a top European club like Napoli is a source of pride for us,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Fiorentina tried to sign the player, they did all they had to do and, truthfully, so did we.

“Giuntoli, however, is a serious orator, with clear and, sometimes, blunt ideas.

“I insisted on one thing and he did on another and evidently Napoli won us over with our satisfaction.

“Napoli told us that there was no-one better than Giaccherini on the market. Without any hesitation, I’ll say that Napoli will win the League this season.

“Having a good player like Giaccherini on the bench means Napoli have even more valuable starting players.

“You win Scudetti with a top-level squad. Maybe Sarri doesn’t rotate his team much, but the results give him reason because he’s a winner.

“Giaccherini will continue to train like he always has, with sincerity and as if he started every Sunday.

“Emanuele was born that way and when he’s needed, he’ll be ready.

“Several teams had looked at Giaccherini and we were in Prague for three days, but it all became hazy because we didn’t have enough economic protection.

“In short, there were at least seven or eight teams ready to take him.”
