Faouzi Ghoulan has returned to the pitch at Napoli’s training ground, saying he’s “happy to be able to play and touch the ball again”.

The Algerian hasn’t played since November due to two serious knee injuries, firstly a ruptured cruciate ligament and then a broken knee cap.

He had further surgery over the summer which caused him to miss the start of the season, but it was announced yesterday that he could be called-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad by the end of the month.

Now Ghoulam himself has posted a video of him working with the ball, saying “happy to be able to play and touch the ball again”.

The left-back hasn’t yet returned to training with the rest of the squad, but could do so next week if surgeon Pierpaolo Mariani gives him the go-ahead.
