Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi says the decision to deny his club a place in the Europa League means he is thinking of leaving football.

The Gialloblu finished the season sixth in Serie A, a League position that should have been enough for them to secure them continental qualification.

However, they were recently denied the UEFA license needed in order to compete in European competition when the FIGC ruled that they had been late in their payments of certain bills.

This afternoon, an appeal to have the decision overturned was rejected by the High Court, meaning that Roberto Donadoni’s side miss out and lose their place to Giampiero Ventura’s Torino.

“I am very saddened by the sporting system and even more so by this decision,” Ghirardi told reporters after hearing the verdict.

“This time they have done it. They may have managed to make me leave the world of football.”
